There are 4 types of deserts. First is the hot and dry. The average temperature is 20 - 25° C, while in the winter it is only a few degrees colder. The maximum temperature is 43.5 to 49° C. There is very little rain, less than 15cm per year, yet it does binge rain at times. For most of the year it is warm and very hot during the summer. Vegetation is rare and scattered. A hot and dry desert is what one would think of as a stereotypical desert.
Second is the Cold. In a cold desert it is cold and snows in winter. It can go down to -2 to 4° C in winter and in summer get up to 21 to 26° C. It snows a lot in a cold desert and in spring they can get 15 - 26 cm of rain a year. In the spring and summer it is warm enough for most lichens.
Third is the semiarid. They are similar to Hot and Dry, but not as hot, and have a little more water.
Last is coastal. It is a
little cooler and wetter compared to a hot and dry desert.
